About Us

Lavabright Publications was founded by Smiti Anand in 2015. She realized that most large publishers are very cautious and constrained about selecting new authors. Then, Smiti joined SCBWI (Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) and learned that there were a lot of great children’s stories that needed to be shared, but these great writers hadn’t found the right publishers.

One of the great joys of writing is sharing your story and finding that your story has become their story. Smiti kept waiting for the right publisher. When this didn’t happen, she realized she had to become a publisher to share her stories and other stories that needed to be told.

Smiti is currently focused on building the network, connections, and experiences necessary to become a world-class publisher. She is using her own books as a way of learning and building the company, and sharing her experiences as she grows with other writers.

Lavabright expects to be able to begin to publish great children’s books in 2019. Lavabright will focus on board books and picture books for the 0 yr-6 yr market place. Lavabright will focus on children’s books that focus on learning, sharing, overcoming fears, and growing. Lavabright is also interested in books from first time writers with unique backgrounds and experiences.
